I really want an Astra and I have no idea why.
![]() 01/31/2014 at 17:43 |

Because there different over here, and not everywhere?
![]() 01/31/2014 at 17:43 |

Because you're crazy.

This, and I can put Vauxhall badges on it maybe please?

Me too!

I think this is an established fact, yes.

It's nice, but I'd rather have a 4-door with a sunroof
![]() 01/31/2014 at 17:45 |

Haha. Good luck finding parts for them.
![]() 01/31/2014 at 17:46 |

That's what I would do if I got one. Swap on Vauxhall panels.

Aren't they fairly common in other parts of the world though? One of the top sellers in Europe!
Plus, you can even get Bilstein and/or Koni shocks for them.
![]() 01/31/2014 at 17:48 |
|
That would be my next step too.
![]() 01/31/2014 at 17:58 |

The 3-door looks better.
![]() 01/31/2014 at 17:59 |

It's a GM product, doubt there is much you can't get.

Yes. Considering its demographic, ubiquity, image and size it's the European Corolla. Well almost, as due to being GM it doesn't have the bulletproof image.
![]() 01/31/2014 at 18:02 |

Maybe, but the 4-door is more useful and has the sunroof option. I don't think the 2-door was available with the awesome panoramic sunroof

More shit that will go wrong.

But sunroofs shouldn't fail though. The sunroof on my 18-yo Lexus with 200k+ works perfect—and the car was even crashed a couple times in its lifetime!
![]() 01/31/2014 at 18:13 |

Just too bad it can't be as reliable as a Toyota :(
![]() 01/31/2014 at 18:15 |

The sunroof on my e36 broke a while ago, and this is even more complicated

I always thought that was a cool design. I just wish there were some more ponies hiding under the hood...
![]() 01/31/2014 at 18:56 |

Can be fixed...

That would be a fantastic project! I have a slush box in my dealership's group that looks identical, but anemic and slush box don't make me think it'll be very enjoyable.

I thought this with a GTO, don't think it's ok because they are common elsewhere. These may have parts but that is far from a safe assumption.
![]() 01/31/2014 at 19:05 |

Vauxhall got 250 ponies under the hood of theirs, okay, it was a torque-steering nightmare, but still...
![]() 01/31/2014 at 19:09 |

Well GM decided Americans only wanted 138 hp. Not exactly a powerhouse.
![]() 01/31/2014 at 19:11 |

As long as you can get aftermarket sporty shocks like Bilstein, Koni, Boge Turbo, Tokico HTS, etc; and a cool catback exhaust and performance brake pads/rotors for them, that's what I need.
Also, the Astra is far more common than the Commodore and friends.

Has GM ever met Americans?
![]() 01/31/2014 at 19:14 |

True, I really like the Astra and was very tempted to get one when new, but I went another direction because I felt Saturn was going away soon. I am fresh off a bad experience with a GTO so that was just my 2 cents. If they still made them I'd have strongly considered it over my Focus ST.
![]() 01/31/2014 at 19:22 |

Hey, there's certainly nothing wrong with a Focus ST :)
But yeah, that panoramic sunroof is fucking awesome!

They were sold in extremely low numbers in the US. I've tried to source parts for them, it's nearly impossible.
